People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world is about to end soon anyway. But those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don’t need to last forever to be perfect.

Daydream Nation

Ok. Daydream Nation. Right now I’m feeling very shallow, because my first thought after I’d finished watching it was, “Reece Thompson, what a handsome devil you are.”

I can’t actually put my finger on what movies this one reminds me of, and at first the whole idea seemed to be stale. The eternal triangle between an ”ethereal” girl, a teacher, and a low-spirited highschooler was the story line, but then the plot got more complex due to all these subplots and minor characters that didn’t revealed themselves completely at the end of the movie. And I like it.

I feel sorry for Mr. A., because after suffering a major setback in his career and personal life he’d gone off his head a little and really needed someone to make his life brighter. But he chose the wrong person.

The atmosphere throughout the whole movie is pleasantly depressing. Stoned teenagers and desperate girls obsessed with unicorns, an industrial fire on the outskirts and a serial killer are not a daydream for a new girl in a small town. But there was a bright spot. The relationship between Thomas and Lily as the background is so heartwarming.

Oh, and I really like these smooth transitions from one frame to another…And the colours are stunning.
